"Raising A Child In A Self Guided Environment"
This is for parents who want to explore alternatives to school and homeschooling.
The core of this is " if the child is not interested it is not worth learning" We as human beings excel at topics we are interested and inspired in. Our ability to learn evolve and be highly capable are activated in an environment where we are choosing whats important, choosing what we focus on and being free to do as much of or as little of it as we want.
By allowing a child to self direct its life from an early age it will know what it likes what makes it feel good and how to go about enhancing those aspects. There is nothing more important than that.
It is integral to treat your child as an equal. You are neither a slave to your child nor a boss. Your child is fully capable of processing information from sex to death to spirituality. Your child is fully capable of making decisions and doing for its self what is important to it.
When one is forced to do things forced to be on a time schedule and forced to do a certain thing a certain way, creativity, the ability to absorb information and be productive is smothered.
It is a journey and it is a journey that takes much faith. Faith that no matter what your child is "doing" with its "time" it is important to its evolution. That even if they get interested in something then loose interest and get interested another thing then loose interest over and over again that every part of the experience is building a part of the child's understanding that will enhance its ability to live later on. Faith that even though you as a parent may have no interest or very little understanding of the topic of interest that it can be important and powerful for your child.
I love to say how Baseball is such a wonderful life skill. One does not need to be a professional baseball player to make it a worthwhile experience. There are thousands of experiences that involve throwing and catching that I am highly capable at because of my experience with baseball. Not to mention the many other physical aspects that were enhanced by the playing of the game. Not to mention the joy that I had while playing and in an enjoyable reality that is all that really matters. Doing what one loves.
